I'll never forget being a young Indians fan in 1968, listening to Herb Score on the radio and hearing Northrup hit grand slams in consecutive innings against the Tribe.I Am A Strange Loophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09775306417258640794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-1506738795578213292011-02-03T21:54:22.100-05:002011-02-03T21:54:22.100-05:00Anon - Whoops! For the 1968 World Series, the Tigers' manager benched SS Oyler and installed centerfielder Mickey Stanley at shortstop (a position he never played until 2 weeks before the world series) because of Oyler's impotent bat. Had this move not been made, Stanley would have played CF in the series, instead of Northrup.Jim from Downingtownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01537007940455183397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-58963477524358086932011-02-02T10:14:03.431-05:002011-02-02T10:14:03.431-05:00I know Billy Martin was with the Minnesota Twins t...I know Billy Martin was with the Minnesota Twins the entire 1969 season. He wasn't a mid season replacement until he joined Texas in 1973. Team Billy with Pitching Coach Johnny Sain, you'd mostly likely have a team that would be beat to beat and also impossible to live with (from a management point of view)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
