Wally coached the 1951 Freshmen baseball team at Texas A&M. Coming from a small town I din't know any better so I went our for the team. Opening day, and the rest of the season, I was Wally's left fielder batting lead off and hit a home run my first time at bat. He did the same thing a few years later with the Cardinals (slightly Bigger League I conceded as I kidded him). What a great guy. Own his rookie card.
Buck Jackson Pt Lavaca, TXUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05672034339911429040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-46447919841446703552009-10-30T09:15:22.818-04:002009-10-30T09:15:22.818-04:00Great article! What a thrill it was to meet a real live major leaguer in a little town in the Texas panhandle. Thanks for the updates. Small minor correction, John Brown University is in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, near Fort Smith. Keep up the good work!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04151934820211582938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-2706755087851642932009-01-07T13:58:00.000-05:002009-01-07T13:58:00.000-05:00You want to see some potential baseball players ju...You want to see some potential baseball players just go to any of the Gold's gyms in College StationAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-89839605387252300972009-01-07T10:33:00.000-05:002009-01-07T10:33:00.000-05:00Thanks Max! There's so little information on some of these players (see Ron Brand below), that it's always a treat to find a website that's got a personal connection to a player, as is the case for Wally Moon and Frank Thomas.Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01334533396646438555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766775162963853142.post-24617328650169934752009-01-06T23:12:00.000-05:002009-01-06T23:12:00.000-05:00i almost kept this card. just for this write up, ...i almost kept this card. just for this write up, i'm glad i sent it...jacobmrleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13991748868368917576noreply@blogger.com
